The US will neither accept nor reject Russia's demands. Ukraine must do that. Rubio

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in an interview with ABC that the US is ready to maintain all sanctions against Russia and impose new ones if there is no progress on the Ukrainian issue.

In response to criticism of the Trump-Putin meeting, Rubio said that the Russian president is part of world politics, and he controls a serious nuclear potential.

"For the US, the best outcome of the Ukrainian conflict would be a 'full peace agreement', not a temporary ceasefire. The issue of achieving a ceasefire in Ukraine is still on the agenda," he said.

According to Rubio, to conclude a peace agreement on Ukraine, each side must both "get something" and "sacrifice something."

"The US is discussing with Russia the issues of Ukraine's territorial borders, possible security guarantees, and Kiev's cooperation with military alliances. The US does not support the idea of transferring the entire territory of Donbass to Russian control," Rubio said.
