The Trump-Putin meeting is set to take place at a military base. CNN

The planned meeting of US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska will take place at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base. This is reported by CNN, citing its sources.

Immediately after the start of preparations for the meeting, the organizers concluded that the only city in Alaska suitable for holding the summit would be Anchorage, the largest city in the state. And only the Elmendorf-Richardson base, located on the northern outskirts of the town, could meet security requirements. However, the White House hoped to avoid a situation in which the Russian president appears on the territory of an American military facility. Writes CNN.

Although the Russian president had named the United Arab Emirates as a suitable location for the summit, the White House hoped to avoid another long trip to the Middle East after Trump's visit in May, CNN found out. As a result, American officials were "delighted and a little surprised" when Putin agreed to meet on US soil.
