Five Al Jazeera journalists killed in Israeli strike

Five Al Jazeera journalists have been killed in an Israeli strike in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli strike hit a journalist’s tent near the main gates of Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza, Al Jazeera reported. Among the dead was 28-year-old Qatari correspondent Anas al-Sharif.

The Israel Defense Forces said that Anas al-Sharif was a terrorist who was acting under the name of a journalist. The Israeli military claims that he led a cell for the Hamas terrorist organization and developed plans for rocket attacks on Israel.

Al Jazeera said that this was another blatant and deliberate attack on press freedom. The channel added that there was no evidence that Anas al-Sharif had any links to Hamas.
