UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomes the comprehensive “Joint Declaration” signed on Friday by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as well as US President Donald Trump, as an essential milestone in the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the UN Secretary-General’s spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a statement.
“Antonio Guterres welcomes the commitment of President Aliyev and Prime Minister Pashinyan to continued dialogue and confidence-building and recognizes President Trump’s efforts to foster progress. The Secretary-General reaffirms the strong support of the United Nations for all efforts to ensure lasting peace in the South Caucasus,” the statement said.
