Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has called the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, signed in Washington, historically significant, Orda.kz reports.
“The document put an end to the long-standing armed conflict and paved the way for the establishment of diplomatic relations and the development of cooperation based on lasting peace,” he said.
The Kazakh president noted that the signing of the agreement was made possible thanks to the mediation mission of US President Donald Trump, who convinced the leaders of the two countries to show political will and strategic foresight. According to Tokayev, Kazakhstan also contributed to the signing of the agreements by offering Almaty as a venue for negotiations between the foreign ministers on the main parameters of the peace treaty.
