Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev gave an interview in which he stated that they want the corridors passing through the territory to be more actively involved in cargo transportation.
"This brings money, creates jobs, creates political influence," he said.
"The agreement signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia clearly shows our intentions, shows that we want peace. But we also want connectivity. We want integration between the two parts of our country through a secure corridor, which will open up many opportunities for the entire region, for Armenia itself," Aliyev stated.
Referring to the importance of August 8, Aliyev said:
"I consider August 8 to be a historic day in our interstate relations, which will have very positive consequences for the entire region. Of course, what happened between Azerbaijan and Armenia today will also be very important for the entire region, for all those who want peace, stability, and prosperity in the South Caucasus."
Aliyev also spoke about his relations with US President Donald Trump:
"President Trump brings peace and tangible results. From this perspective, I highly appreciate our relations. Our first meeting with President Trump was very friendly, cordial, and result-oriented. My attitude towards President Trump has always been very positive. He is a person who values family and the Azerbaijani people. Today, a new page is opening in Azerbaijani-American relations," he said.
