France supports the joint call of the parties to begin the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group structures

The French Foreign Ministry issued a statement, which reads:

“France welcomes the announcement today in Washington, under the auspices of President Trump, of an agreement between President Aliyev and Prime Minister Pashinyan aimed at normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The results achieved thanks to the commitment of the United States are a decisive step forward. The signing and ratification of the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan as soon as possible will complete this process.

In this regard, France supports the joint call by the parties to begin the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group structures.

The normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the development of regional connectivity and the reopening of borders, while respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of states, as well as the principles established by the 1991 Almaty Declaration, should enable the South Caucasus to become an area of peace and prosperity for the benefit of the peoples of the region. Together with its European partners, France will continue to contribute to this actively.
