Russia has attacked a gas pipeline that supplies American and Azerbaijani gas to Ukraine

On the night of August 6, Russia struck a key Ukrainian gas pipeline facility in the Odessa region. The target of the strike was a compressor station of the gas pipeline operator, located near the Ukrainian-Romanian border.

This station served as a connecting node on the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline, through which Ukraine received liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States, as well as pilot supplies from Azerbaijan via terminals in Greece.

Ukraine said the strike was “demonstrative and deliberate” and aimed at civilian energy infrastructure and international cooperation. Dozens of strike drones participated in the federal strike.

The attack is also aimed at hindering Ukraine’s cooperation with Azerbaijan, the United States, and European countries. Experts are currently assessing the damage caused by the strike.
