Brazilian President Lula da Silva has said that Brazil is not as dependent on the United States as it used to be, and that the country has pervasive trade relations with the whole world.
"We are much more economically independent, but of course, I understand that diplomatic relations with the United States are also important. I do not give up the idea that we should strive to create an alternative currency so that we can trade with other countries. We should not be dependent on the dollar," he said.
