Arab countries and Turkey condemn Hamas' October 7 attack for the first time

The countries of the Arab League, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, as well as Turkey and the European Union, have signed a declaration condemning for the first time the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.

The document, which was approved at the UN Conference on the Revival of the Two-State Principle, calls on the Palestinian group, designated a terrorist organization by the US and the EU, to release all hostages, lay down its arms, and relinquish control of the Gaza Strip to end the war.

The declaration outlines a plan to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip, which envisages the creation of an independent demilitarized Palestinian territory and its subsequent integration into the region.

The document envisages the deployment of international forces in Gaza to stabilize the situation, restore Palestinian governance, and prepare for the creation of an independent Palestinian state. The text also condemns Israeli airstrikes, civilian deaths, restrictions on humanitarian aid, and the construction of Jewish settlements.
