Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Kremlin press service reported.
They discussed various aspects of the tense situation in the Middle East. The Russian side confirmed its unwavering position in favor of an exclusively peaceful resolution of the problems and conflicts in the region.
Putin, in particular, emphasized the importance of supporting the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, strengthening its internal political stability through respect for the legitimate rights and interests of all ethnic and religious groups of the population.
Given the recent escalation of the Iranian-Israeli conflict, the Russian side expressed its readiness to do everything to contribute to finding negotiated solutions to the Iranian nuclear program.
The leaders agreed to continue the dialogue on current international and bilateral issues.
