The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) killed Amjad Muhammad Hassan Shaer, head of the counterintelligence department of Hamas’s general security apparatus, in northern Gaza.
Hamas’ counterintelligence department is responsible for suppressing opposition to the organization’s rule, preventing espionage, and ensuring the security of high-ranking officials and assets in and outside the Gaza Strip.
Based on intelligence from the IDF and the Israel Security Agency (ISA), the Israeli military continues to conduct operations in the Gaza Strip against terrorist organizations.
