After the negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul, the heads of the delegations made statements.
The head of the Ukrainian delegation, Rustem Umerov, noted that Kyiv has proposed holding a meeting at the level of the leaders of Ukraine and Russia by the end of August.
He also noted that the Russian side has agreed to return people who have been in captivity for more than three years, including the seriously wounded and young people.
The head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, announced that they have proposed creating 3 working groups that will work online on political, humanitarian, and military issues.
In addition, Russia has proposed to Ukraine to exchange at least 1,200 prisoners of war from each side.
According to Medinsky, Russia and Ukraine have been discussing the memoranda for a long time, and the parties' positions are far apart. He noted that we will continue to discuss the regulations on the memoranda.
Medinsky added that a possible meeting between Putin and Zelensky must be thoroughly prepared, and Moscow has conveyed this position to Kyiv.
