Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei commented on Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s recent statement on the so-called “Zangezur Corridor,” underlining Iran’s consistent position.
“The creation of new corridors in the region should not threaten the sovereignty of countries or violate recognized state borders,” the spokesman noted. He also stressed that any geopolitical change is unacceptable.
“Some statements and positions regarding the Caucasus region may be misinterpreted or inaccurately presented in the press by different countries, which leads to unnecessary misunderstandings,” he added.
