Trump to announce arms supply to Ukraine today

US President Donald Trump will announce a new plan to arm Ukraine today, which is expected to include offensive weapons, Axios sources reported.

The portal notes that the supply of offensive weapons would represent a sharp departure from Trump's policy, as he had previously emphasized that he would provide only defensive weapons to avoid escalating the conflict.

Trump will announce the White House during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, "to present a new plan to arm Ukraine."

The portal's sources claim that Trump's plan could include a transfer point to Ukraine for "long-range missiles" that can hit targets deep inside Russian territory, including Moscow. However, Axios' sources say they are unsure whether a final decision has been made on this matter.

Speaking to reporters at Andrews Air Force Base near Washington on Sunday, Trump said the United States would provide Ukraine with additional weapons, including missiles for Patriot systems, which the European Union would finance.
