French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that the country will increase military spending and accelerate the rearmament of its army in response to the growing threat from Russia.
Macron stated that France will allocate an additional 3.5 billion euros for defense in 2026 and an additional 3 billion euros in 2027. Thus, in 2027, France's defense budget is expected to reach € 64 billion, nearly double the figure in 2017.
"Since the end of World War II in 1945, freedom has never been threatened like this. Peace on our continent has never depended so much on our current decisions," he said.
