At least 30 people have been killed and nearly 100 injured in clashes in the Syrian city of Sweida, the Syrian Interior Ministry said.
Initial reports suggest the clashes were between Druze and Bedouin groups. Reuters reported that fighting was continuing on the ground.
The clashes followed a series of kidnappings, including the abduction of a Druze merchant.
This is the first time such clashes have occurred within the city of Sweida. Clashes have previously occurred in areas surrounding the capital, Damascus, but this scale is unprecedented in the city.
