London and Paris to coordinate nuclear deterrence measures

The United Kingdom and France are set to sign an agreement that will allow them to coordinate their nuclear deterrence efforts to respond jointly to “any extreme threat to Europe” if necessary. The joint declaration is to be signed in London on July 10 by Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Emmanuel Macron.

The document will state that the nuclear deterrence efforts of the two countries will remain under national control but will be “coordinated.”

Recall that Emmanuel Macron is in London on a state visit, and ahead of the high-level meeting, London and Paris have also announced their intention to “refresh” their relations in the defense sector.
