German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has said that the war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine can no longer be stopped diplomatically. In a speech to the Bundestag, he stressed that Berlin will continue to support Kyiv, even in the face of resistance within the country.
According to him, diplomatic channels become ineffective when a “criminal regime” is using armed forces to not only question the right to exist of a whole country, but also endanger political freedom across the European continent.
