The German Foreign Ministry has announced that the Chinese military has used a laser weapon against a German aircraft involved in the EU ASPIDES mission. The Chinese ambassador has been summoned to the German Foreign Ministry.
"The threat to German personnel and the disruption of the operation are completely unacceptable," the ministry said.
The ASPIDES mission is an EU initiative aimed at protecting commercial shipping in the Red Sea.
