Severe frost in Argentina causes deaths (PHOTOS)

Argentina has been experiencing a freezing winter in recent days, breaking decades-old temperature records and killing at least nine people, according to the humanitarian organization Proyecto 7.

Buenos Aires recorded a low of -1.9°C on Wednesday morning, the lowest temperature in 34 years. El Palomar, 25 kilometers from the capital, recorded a low of -7.4°C, the lowest temperature there in 58 years.

Even some cities on the Atlantic coast, such as Miramar, which had not seen snow in 12 years, have experienced snowfall this week.

The coldest place in recent days has been Macinchao, a small town in Patagonia (population 3,000), where temperatures ranged from -12°C to -18°C.

Researchers and volunteers say at least nine people, mostly homeless people, have died from the cold in the past 10 days. However, this data has not yet been officially confirmed by the authorities.
