Pezeshkian called for an investigation into reports of Israeli drones entering Iran through Azerbaijani territory

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called for a thorough investigation into reports that Israeli drones may have entered Iranian airspace via Azerbaijan, the Iranian state news agency IRNA reported.

During the conversation, Pezeshkian stressed that Iran has never started a war and added that the Israeli regime acted in violation of international law by attacking Iran, including by targeting nuclear facilities, which is a “crime against humanity.”

In response, Aliyev expressed regret for the Israeli attacks and the resulting civilian casualties. He welcomed the ceasefire and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s respect for Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Denying reports that Israeli drones used Azerbaijani airspace to attack Iran, Aliyev stressed that his government maintains complete control over its airspace and will never allow it to be used against Iran. He stressed Azerbaijan’s desire to expand ties with Iran in the economic, political, and security spheres.
