Central Intelligence Agency Director John Ratcliffe has said that Iran's nuclear facilities have suffered significant damage as a result of US strikes.
"The CIA can confirm that a combination of credible intelligence indicates that Iran's nuclear program has been severely damaged as a result of recent targeted strikes," the agency said in a statement on its website.
Ratcliffe said new intelligence from credible sources indicates that several key Iranian nuclear facilities have been damaged and that restoring them could take years.
He added that the CIA will continue to gather additional information and share it with officials and the public.
Earlier, the White House denied initial intelligence assessments published in the press that claimed that key components of Iran's nuclear program were not destroyed and could be restored within months.
