Trump and Erdogan discussed regional issues

The meeting of the US and Turkish presidents took place within the framework of the NATO summit. The Trump-Erdogan talks were held in a closed format, without the participation of the press.

During the meeting, the leaders discussed US-Turkey bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues. Erdogan noted that the two countries have great potential for expanding cooperation, especially in the energy and investment sectors. According to him, the development of cooperation in the defense industry will contribute to implementing the goal of increasing the total volume of bilateral trade to $100 billion.

The Turkish president welcomed the reconciliation achieved between Israel and Iran, which became possible thanks to the efforts of US President Trump. Erdogan expressed hope that this reconciliation will be permanent and stressed the need for close dialogue to quickly end the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza and achieve a peaceful resolution to the war between Russia and Ukraine, Turkish media reported.

As leading NATO allies, the leaders of both countries emphasized the importance of further strengthening the Alliance's deterrent power.
