Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran had halted the attacks at 4:00 a.m. local time.
“The military operations of our powerful armed forces, aimed at punishing Israeli aggression, continued until the last minute, until 4:00 a.m.,” he wrote on social media.
Earlier, Araghchi stated that there is no agreement with Israel on a ceasefire or cessation of hostilities. However, if Israel stops the attacks, Tehran is also ready to stop the bombings.
“There is no ‘agreement’ on a ceasefire or cessation of hostilities. However, if the Israeli regime stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people by 4:00 a.m. Tehran time, we do not intend to continue our retaliatory actions after that,” Araghchi wrote on X. He added that the final decision to cease hostilities will be made later.
US President Donald Trump announced the cessation of hostilities.
According to CBS, Trump contacted Netanyahu, and the latter agreed to a ceasefire, provided that Iran does not continue the attacks. At the same time, the White House announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a truce.
