Israel’s ambassador to Geneva, Daniel Meron, has protested plans to allow Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to address the UN Human Rights Council.

“Allowing the Iranian foreign minister to speak undermines the council’s authority and is a betrayal of the regime’s victims,” Meron said, according to Reuters.

The council said Araghchi could speak before talks with the foreign ministers of the EU, Britain, France, and Germany. Meron accused Iran of using the council to “promote a totalitarian campaign.”

The Iranian ambassador to the council described Israel’s attacks as a “war against humanity.”
