US President Donald Trump said, "I am disappointed in Elon Musk." Trump spoke during a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the White House.
"I helped him a lot. I don't know if we'll have a good relationship. He knew about the bill and had no problem with it," Trump said in response to Musk's harsh criticism of the budget bill, calling it "disgusting."
Musk responded to Trump and, on his X page, recalled many of Trump's statements before becoming president: "Where is this man today?"
"That's a lie. I was never shown that bill (on increasing US government spending)," he wrote.
