"NATO allies cannot rely solely on the US." Pentagon chief

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has said that NATO member states cannot continue to rely solely on the United States for their defense and must become more involved.

“The United States is proud to stand with its allies, but our message is clear: deterrence and peace through strength, not reliance,” Hegseth said ahead of a meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels.

“We should not and cannot rely solely on America. Everything should not be limited to US capabilities,” he added.
