US President Donald Trump described his phone call with Chinese leader Xi Jinping as productive.
"We discussed some of the recently concluded and negotiated trade agreement details. The conversation lasted about an hour and a half, resulting in a positive outcome for both countries. There should be no more questions about the difficulty of producing rare earth elements.
Our respective teams will meet shortly at the appointed location. Treasury Secretary Scott Basing, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and US Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer will represent the United States.
During the conversation, President Xi kindly invited me and the First Lady to visit China, and I reciprocated. As presidents of two great powers, we look forward to this opportunity. The conversation was almost entirely devoted to trade. Nothing was discussed about Russia, Ukraine, or Iran. "We will inform the media of the time and place of the upcoming meeting," Trump wrote.
