Amid concerns over the political situation in Georgia, the French city of Nantes has suspended its sister city agreement with Tbilisi, which had been in effect for almost half a century, the city council said in a statement quoted by local media.
Nantes stressed that the decision will remain in effect until the necessary conditions for the resumption of cooperation are met.
Tbilisi and Nantes became sister cities in 1979.
