Russian losses in the war reached one million. CSIS

According to a new report by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), the number of Russian soldiers killed or wounded in the war against Ukraine is approaching one million. Ukraine has about 400 thousand dead and wounded.

The report is based on estimates from the governments of the United States and the United Kingdom and several other sources.

It notes that Russia’s advance in recent months has been extremely slow, about 50 meters per day. Since January 2024, Russia has managed to capture about 1% of Ukraine’s territory. Moscow currently controls about 20% of the country.

According to CSIS, the Russian side has suffered about 250 thousand casualties, which is the highest rate of losses since World War II. The number of casualties on the Ukrainian side reaches 60-100 thousand.
