The Associated Press reports that for the first time since the United States created an international group to coordinate military assistance to Ukraine three years ago, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth will not attend a meeting of more than 50 defense ministers.
The agency claims that Hegseth, who returned from a national security conference in Singapore on Sunday, will not arrive in Brussels until Wednesday evening. An anonymous source said the defense secretary will not participate in the meeting by videoconference either.
The publication notes that this is one of the latest steps Washington has taken to distance itself from military operations in Ukraine.
