The Security Service of Ukraine reported that its agents mined the Crimean bridge and blew up its pillars. In the morning, traffic on the bridge was closed for several hours.
According to the report, an explosive equivalent to 1,100 kg of TNT was attached to the bridge pillars. The operation was prepared for several months and coordinated by Vasyl Malyuk, the special service head. According to the department, the structure caused serious damage to the seabed and was declared unsafe.
“The Crimean Bridge is a legitimate target. The enemy uses it as the main logistical artery for supplying the army. Crimea is Ukraine, and any manifestation of occupation will be met with a harsh response,” said the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Malyuk.
