Reuters has published details of the US proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza. It envisages a 60-day truce and the return of 28 Israeli hostages, both alive and dead, within the first week. In addition, the Israeli side will return 125 Palestinian life prisoners and the bodies of 180 dead.
The plan also envisages sending humanitarian aid to Gaza as soon as Hamas signs the peace agreement.
The plan envisages that Hamas will release the last 30 hostages after the agreement comes into force.
The White House said on Thursday that Israel had agreed to the US peace proposal.
The Palestinian militant group Hamas told Reuters that it was considering the plan and would respond on Friday or Saturday.
