US President Donald Trump has said the US is having "good talks" with Iran.
"We are having excellent talks with Iran. We'll see if that means anything, but we are having good talks," he told reporters at the White House.
Representatives of Iran and the United States held the fifth round of talks in Rome on May 23 to resolve the Iran nuclear program crisis, which Oman mediated. After the consultations, Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidy said there was "some progress, but not final." As his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi said, Tehran and Washington hope to achieve positive results in one or two meetings.
At a briefing on Tuesday, State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said that the latest round of talks had been constructive. He also noted that the parties "agreed to meet again shortly."
