Elon Musk, the head of the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has announced that his term in the US administration is ending. He thanked President Donald Trump.
“As my term as a special civil servant is coming to an end, I want to thank President Donald Trump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending,” Musk wrote on the X social network.
“The mission of DOGE will only grow stronger over time as it becomes a way of life for all government agencies,” he added.
Musk said in an interview with CBS the day before that he was disappointed with Trump’s “big and beautiful” tax and budget law. In his opinion, this law undermines efforts to reduce spending and will increase the budget deficit.
After Trump took office, Musk was appointed a “special civil servant,” which allowed him to work for the state for 130 days a year.
If we count from the inauguration on January 20, that term ends at the end of May.
