Like the US, Russia has its national interests, which we are not ready to give up: Peskov

Russia has reached the final stage of work on the draft memorandum on Ukraine.

The press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, noted that the Kremlin will not discuss the content of the documents related to Ukraine, which have yet to be agreed, through the media. This should be done privately, and one should be cautious about media reports on the settlement of the Ukraine conflict, as most of them are false.

According to Peskov, the venue for the next round of negotiations with Ukraine should be acceptable for both sides to conduct direct talks.

"Documents for discussing the conditions for a temporary ceasefire with Ukraine are being prepared, and a special military operation is underway," Peskov said.

He noted that the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis pose a serious threat to Russia's national interests.

"We understand that Trump wants a quick settlement in Ukraine, but like the United States, Russia has its national interests, which we are not ready to give up," Peskov said in response to Trump's recent statement that Putin is "playing with fire."
