King Charles III is in Canada

King Charles III and Queen Camilla of the United Kingdom have arrived in Canada for a two-day visit.

The royal couple were invited by Prime Minister Mark Carney, who won the parliamentary election on a wave of public discontent caused by Trump's statements to call Canada the "51st state".

Carney personally greeted Carl and Camilla at the airport, along with schoolchildren, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and representatives of Indigenous peoples.

Charles III will address the Canadian Parliament. Elizabeth II gave the last such speech in Ottawa almost half a century ago.

In the speech, which was prepared jointly with the Canadian government, the king is expected to defend Canadian sovereignty and criticize Trump's statements about Canada joining the United States.
