Hungary could be stripped of its voting rights

The press service of the Council of Europe says that the ministers will hold the eighth hearing on the application of Article 7 of the EU Treaty to Hungary. This article allows the state to be deprived of its vote in the event of a serious threat to the fundamental values of the European Union.

Earlier, the LRT newspaper reported that the European Parliament proposed to stop completely funding Hungary, accusing Budapest of restricting freedom, undermining democracy and the independence of the courts, and not adhering to EU law and values.
