BBC's Tom Bateman reports that Michael Anton, the US policy planning director and aide to Marco Rubio, will meet with Vladimir Medinsky, the head of the Russian delegation.
Anton will not be taking part in the Russia-Ukraine talks. His meeting with Medinsky is scheduled to occur before the meeting between representatives from Kyiv and Moscow.
