Trump offered an analogue of the Ukrainian agreement in Syria: The Times

According to the newspaper The Times, Syria's interim President, Ahmed al-Sharaa, has appealed to US President Donald Trump, proposing to lift the sanctions imposed on Syria in exchange for US access to the country's natural resources.

According to the publication, Trump is considering easing sanctions to give Syria a "fresh start." The new Syrian authorities have presented Washington with a proposal for resource extraction through intermediaries, similar to the agreement signed with Ukraine. Sharma also reported that a "Trump Tower" could be built in Damascus.

According to the newspaper, high-ranking officials from Saudi Arabia and Turkey could be among the intermediaries. The White House even discussed a possible meeting between Trump and Sharaa during Trump's visit to Saudi Arabia, but on the evening of May 12, it became known that it would not take place. Among those who spoke out against the meeting was US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
