US President Donald Trump has congratulated Cardinal Robert Francis on his election as Pope.
"I am honored to know that he is the first American Pope. I am thrilled; it is a great honor for our country. I look forward to meeting the Pope. It will be a very significant moment," Trump wrote on his social media page.
