Ukraine is considering switching from the dollar to the euro. Reuters

As reported by Reuters, Andriy Pyshnyy, the chairman of the Central Bank of Ukraine, announced that Ukraine is considering abandoning the US dollar in favor of using the euro as its primary settlement currency.

Pyshnyy stated that the Central Bank is currently examining this option in light of potential changes in global trade and the strengthening of Ukraine's ties with Europe.

He remarked, "The prospect of joining the European Union, the increasing role of the EU in enhancing our defense capabilities, as well as the growing volatility in global markets and the possible polarization of the trading system, prompt the Central Bank to reconsider whether the euro can replace the dollar as Ukraine's main settlement currency."

Pyshnyy emphasized that "this process is complex and requires thorough and comprehensive preparation."
