The US Embassy in Georgia has warned its citizens about the threat of explosions in shopping malls in Tbilisi.
The following locations are listed:
- East Point Shopping Center, Alexander Tvalchrelidze Street
- Galleria Tbilisi, Rustaveli Avenue
- Tbilisi Shopping Area, Agmashenebeli Avenue 16
No further details were provided.
The embassy’s regional security office has advised all employees to avoid the locations until further notice.
The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Security Service have not yet commented on the report.
This is the second warning from the US Embassy this year. Earlier in February, the embassy warned that Georgia had passed laws that could restrict what in the United States is considered the right to free speech. This concerned amendments to Georgia’s laws on assemblies and demonstrations, as well as amendments to the criminal and administrative codes.
