The Times of Israel reports that Israel’s security cabinet unanimously approved a plan late Sunday to significantly expand its Gaza operation, which would involve seizing and controlling territory to strike Hamas and prevent it from controlling humanitarian aid. According to the plan, the new phase of the operation will begin only after US President Donald Trump’s visit to the region.
According to officials, Israel is preparing to take control of some areas of Gaza by moving civilians south and destroying Hamas’s military infrastructure. The operation will begin in stages, first in a small area, then expanding.
At the same time, a plan was approved to return aid to Gaza to reduce the risk that it would end up in Hamas’ hands. The delivery will be carried out through international organizations and private security companies, with the IDF providing external protection.
