The US intends to cut spending by almost $2.5 billion for the State Department and USAID

The administration of US President Donald Trump is proposing to cut spending by $2.46 billion for the State Department and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). This is provided in the draft of the US federal budget for fiscal year 2026 (which begins in the country on October 1), which was released by the White House on Friday.

Overall, foreign policy spending is proposed to be reduced by $9.6 billion, 83.7% less than the budget proposal for the current fiscal year.
