Turkey's Minister of Urban Development and Environment Murat Kurum said on Thursday that more than 4,200 buildings had been damaged in an earthquake in Istanbul.
The IHA news agency quoted the minister as saying, "We have inspected 36,425 buildings, of which 4,295 are damaged. "
He said damage assessments were ongoing.
Earlier, Turkish authorities reported a building collapse in the Fatih district, but no one was injured.
Last Wednesday, a 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Istanbul in the Sea of Marmara, followed by aftershocks. The natural disaster injured 236 people, but there were no fatalities.
