The world's oldest Brazilian nun, Inah Canabarro Lucas, has died. She died at the age of 116 years and 326 days, AFP reports.
According to the American Gerontological Research Group (GRG) and the LongeviQuest database, after Lucas' death, the title of supercentenarian passed to Ethel Caterham from Surrey, England, who turned 115 in August last year.
In January, Inah Canabarro Lucas was recognized as the world's oldest person after the death of Japanese Tomiko Itooka, who was also 116 years old. According to LongeviQuest, the nun received a blessing from Pope Francis on her 110th birthday.
GRG head Robert Young told AFP that although Lucas himself claimed to have been born on May 27, 1908, documents show his birthday as June 8.
