UK bans export of game consoles to Russia

The United Kingdom has banned the export of game console controllers to Russia. The UK government believes they could be used to control drones on the front lines in Ukraine.

In a package announced this morning, which includes 150 new trade sanctions against Russia, the UK has also suspended the entry of other technologies into the country, including software that can search for and exploit new oil and gas wells.

In addition, Russia has been restricted in its access to modern technologies and innovative programs that can be used to search for and develop new oil and gas wells and strengthen the Russian military-industrial complex. This concerns electronic products (amplifiers and microcircuits), chemicals, electronics, machinery, and metals.
