Gunmen opened fire on a group of tourists in Indian-controlled Kashmir. Media reports say 26 people have been killed, but their names have not been released. The men who had come to Kashmir were from different parts of the country.
The attack occurred in Baisaran, a mountain meadow off the main road to Pahalgam. The place is often called the "local Switzerland" and has been featured in many Bollywood films. Baisaran can only be reached on foot or by horse.
